AL K12 Technology and Cybersecurity Leadership Act

The AL K12 Technology and Cybersecurity Leadership Act became law on July 1, 2024, but its impact goes into effect on October 1.

The bill elevates the state-recognized job title from coordinator to director, describes minimum qualifications for the position, ensures new technology directors complete introductory training and requires all other technology directors to complete 12 hours of professional development annually.

ALET is charged with managing and providing the professional development.

Representatives Alan Baker, Danny Garrett, Terri Collins and Senator Donnie Chesteen sponsored the bill.
